In late Spring of 2018, StormCloud brought their award winning festival themed adaptation of ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’ to Stroud Shakespeare Festival.
Originally created for the Theatre Royal Winchester’s Scratch Shakespeare Competition, where the piece won ‘Best Directed’, Midsummer Weekender ran for three performances at the Stroud Festival. This piece recontextualised Shakespeare’s forest and fairy filled comedy, setting it at a modern day festival full of glitter, dancing, and alcohol fuel frenzy. Midsummer Weekender focused solely on the story of the four lovers, proving that famous phrase “the course of true love never did run smooth”. StormCloud created two original songs for the piece, ‘Ode to Helena’ and ‘Let Him Bide’.
